The police spokesperson assured that Akwa Ibom continues to be peaceful and emphasized that the police will persist in safeguarding all residents.

Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom, CP Waheed Ayilara, has issued a warning against the dissemination of false information during the nationwide protests to prevent undue alarm.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Timfon John, made this statement in Uyo on Friday.

John addressed rumors circulating about protesters blocking Itak Junction and causing damage, including to vehicles. He clarified that these reports are false and intended to incite unnecessary fear and unrest in the state.

He explained that what was misrepresented as a protest was actually the arrest of Michael Edet Effa, a suspected ritualist. The police acted promptly to detain Effa and transport him to the State Criminal Investigation Department to avoid potential violence.

The police spokesperson reiterated that Akwa Ibom remains calm and assured that the police will continue their efforts to ensure public safety.

Residents are urged to stay calm and vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
