Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced a vacation from August 5 to September 6, 2024, and will temporarily transfer his duties to Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal during this period. This decision was communicated through a letter read by Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin during a plenary session on July 25, 2024. Governor Makinde will return to his role on September 7, 2024.

The move is part of routine governance protocols aimed at ensuring stability and continuity in the administration. Speaker Ogundoyin expressed confidence in Deputy Governor Lawal’s ability to manage the state’s affairs effectively during Makinde’s absence. This transition underscores the importance of maintaining smooth governance operations even during periods of personal leave for state leaders.
