“A Song from the Dark,” directed by Ogo Okpue, is a supernatural horror film set primarily in the English countryside, slated to debut on Prime Video on July 12, 2024. The story revolves around a widow who hires a spirit hunter to dispel a malevolent spirit following the mysterious death of her husband. The film delves into themes of revenge intertwined with Nigerian mysticism, blending supernatural elements with suspense and horror.

Ogo Okpue, an award-winning British Nigerian filmmaker and VFX/motion graphics artist based in Essex, UK, has garnered acclaim for his previous works screened at various international festivals. His film “A Song from the Dark” has already received accolades such as Best Director First Feature Film at the Africa Movie Academy Awards 2022 and Best Director at the 2022 American Black Film Festival.

In an interview with Deadline, Okpue expressed his aim to elevate African storytelling on a global stage through this project, emphasizing its personal and cultural significance. The cast includes notable actors like Nse Ikpe Etim and Wale Ojo from Nollywood, alongside British Ghanaian actress Venessa Vanderpue, Lola Wayne, and Garcia Brown, among others.

The film promises to captivate audiences with its rich narrative, atmospheric setting, and exploration of supernatural themes within the context of African and diasporic storytelling.
