The Police Command in Ekiti State has issued a ban on any unlawful gatherings following intelligence reports of plans by a cult group to celebrate its anniversary on July 7, also known as “7/7.” In a statement by the Commissioner of Police, Akinwale Adeniran, the command expressed concerns over potential violence and criminal activities associated with such celebrations, including inductions of new members and supremacy battles.

The statement warned members of secret cults and other criminal elements to refrain from participating in illegal celebrations that could disrupt the peace and security in the state. It directed all Area Commanders, Heads of Intelligence, Tactical Units, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to be vigilant and deploy personnel to identified black spots across the state.

Additionally, the CP announced a ban on gatherings or celebrations in hotels, bars, event centers, and similar venues on July 7 unless authorized by the state government or the police. He emphasized the readiness of the police and other security agencies to take decisive action against any individual or group found violating the order.

Parents and guardians were urged to advise their wards against engaging in unlawful activities, and residents were encouraged to report any suspicious behavior to the nearest police station or security agency. The statement concluded by reassuring the public of adequate security measures to safeguard lives and property during this period.
