Tinubu appoints LASU VC’s husband as CEO of Consumer Protection Commission

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Olatunji Bello as the new Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), pending Senate confirmation. The announcement was made by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

Olatunji Bello is a multifaceted professional with a background in law, administration, and journalism. He previously served as the Secretary to the Lagos State Government and has a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos. Bello began his career in journalism at Concord Newspapers in 1985, eventually becoming the Group Political Editor, Sunday Concord Editor, and Editor of National Concord. He also chaired the Editorial Board of THISDAY Newspapers in 2001 and served as Commissioner for Environment in Lagos State.

President Tinubu expects Bello to ensure the FCCPC fulfills its mandate of protecting and promoting the interests and welfare of Nigerian consumers, and to implement measures that guarantee the safety and quality of goods and services.
