Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), articulated the party’s strategic vision during a policy roundtable event titled “The Asiwaju Scorecard Series.” His remarks centered on the APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections and its commitment to grassroots expansion and party restructuring.

Ganduje emphasized the importance of building a truly grassroots progressive party, signaling a departure from traditional election-focused strategies. He outlined specific initiatives aimed at strengthening the party’s presence at the local level. One key directive from the National Working Committee (NWC) is for state chapters to collaborate with governors and other stakeholders to establish fully functional party offices in every political ward and state. This move aims to ensure that APC members across the country have tangible representation in their local communities, fostering year-round engagement and participation in party activities.

The party’s restructuring efforts also include the establishment of reconciliation committees at various levels, from the national down to the ward level. These committees will be tasked with resolving internal conflicts and fostering unity among party members. By addressing grievances and promoting inclusivity, the APC aims to enhance cohesion and solidarity within its ranks, thereby strengthening its overall electoral prospects.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Ganduje expressed the party’s ambition to secure new state governors and maintain its hold on the presidency. This forward-looking approach underscores the APC’s commitment to long-term strategic planning and electoral success. By laying the groundwork for sustained grassroots mobilization and party organization, the APC aims to build a resilient and formidable political machinery capable of securing victory in future electoral contests.
