Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, has announced that the 2025 budget for State House agencies will be determined based on a comprehensive needs assessment. This approach aims to allocate funding according to the actual requirements of each agency rather than arbitrary figures.
Gbajabiamila highlighted the importance of prioritizing resources effectively, noting that many agencies are currently underfunded. He suggested that there may be a need to evaluate whether some agencies should be merged or discontinued, though he clarified this discussion does not apply to the State House agencies directly.
During a recent fact-finding tour of several government agencies, including the Nigeria Agriculture and Land Development Agency (NALDA), Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC), and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Gbajabiamila emphasized the need for better welfare and working conditions for staff. He encouraged staff to embrace innovation and professionalism while supporting their leaders.
The Chief of Staff also stressed the importance of transparency in procurement processes as part of the administration’s commitment to good governance and accountability.
