Ivy Zenny, wife of Nigerian music star Paul Okoye from the P-Square duo, has voiced her frustration with social media trolls. On August 18, 2024, she took to her Instagram story to criticize individuals who engage in trolling for attention or financial aid.
Zenny expressed her disdain for the trend of using hate comments to gain recognition, writing, “I’ve come across a lot of trolls and nothing fazes me tbh, so this isn’t really about me. But, for some of these people, the moment they got a tad bit of attention, they changed the narrative to be, ‘It’s just cruise’, it’s not that serious, I just wanted your attention. love you, please help me/help my family.’”
She targeted those who use trolling to seek financial support from celebrities, labeling the behavior as “embarrassing.” Zenny emphasized that she will not be giving any money to trolls, unlike Nigerian singer Chike, who is known for his generosity.
“I wish you could understand how embarrassing it is to drop hate comments for fun, or recognition or money. Not everyone has Chike’s heart. They’re out to play now because of 1 million. 1 kobo, you no go see. Just save yourself the embarrassment, please, 100% of the time, you really do look stupid on here,” she added.
Her post received support from other Instagram users, who agreed with her sentiment. One user commented, “She ain’t wrong, though! A lot of these trolls never see food chop but want to troll people who have money just for attention. 😂👏 Let the trolls continue; they won’t get anything. 👏”
